About this planter

Low. Wide. Quietly commanding.

The Casablanca is the planter that does what almost no other planter does — it stays close to the ground on purpose. A wide, softly tapered round bowl, twice as broad as it is tall, sitting at the kind of low, horizontal proportion that draws the eye downward instead of up. In a collection full of vertical and architectural pieces, the Casablanca is the counterweight: the one that grounds a composition, opens up a space rather than dividing it, and gives a room or a terrace a single, calm horizontal line.
The proportions are the whole idea. At its widest, 91 cm across and only 46 cm tall, the Casablanca reads as a small landscape rather than a planter — a low pool of greenery from which a sculptural specimen rises. Plant a single architectural agave at the centre, surround it with trailing succulents, and the whole composition sits on the floor like a planted island. Place a sculptural olive bonsai or a clipped boxwood in the smaller size and it becomes a tabletop centrepiece for a dining terrace or a hotel buffet. The wide, open mouth invites layered, mounded planting; the low body keeps everything in proportion to the space around it rather than competing with it.
It works particularly well where most planters would feel intrusive. In a hotel lobby with significant ceiling height, a single large Casablanca on the floor anchors the volume without crowding it — the kind of object that lets the architecture breathe. On a poolside or spa deck, a row of three across the edge of the paving turns the boundary into a wash of low planting. In a restaurant, the medium sizes work beautifully as table-height divisions between zones — soft, planted, and exactly the right height not to interrupt sightlines or conversation. In a residential garden, two Casablancas flanking a path or a step give the route definition without ever looking like a barrier.
Every Casablanca is hand-finished in the same automotive-grade composite fiberglass as the rest of the Jay Scotts collection. The wide, low form is technically demanding to make well — any wobble or thinning shows immediately on a broad, flat surface — so each piece is inspected for the perfectly even sheen and crisp profile that make the form work. It endures from −20 °C to +50 °C without cracking or fading, and remains light enough to be repositioned by hand even in the largest size. Available in four sizes (50.8 / 61 / 76.2 / 91.4 cm wide), in all 21 standard Jay Scotts finishes, with custom colour matching on request.
Ideal for Lobbies & atriums with ceiling height to spare · Pool decks, spa edges & water features · Restaurant zoning at table height · Hotel buffets & event centrepieces · Residential garden paths & step framing · Mediterranean terraces & courtyard gardens · Architectural specimens — agave, olive bonsai, clipped boxwood, sculptural succulents · Layered mounded plantings & trailing compositions · Anywhere a space needs a horizontal counterweight to vertical elements
