The Alicante is the first planter in the collection where the surface itself does the talking. A classical tapered round body — narrow at the base, opening softly to the rim — wrapped from top to bottom in continuous vertical fluting. The ribs catch the light differently from every angle: bright on one side, soft shadow on the other, the contrast moving through the day as the sun does. What in plain form would be a quietly competent planter becomes, with the fluting, something that genuinely rewards looking at twice.

The texture does more than decorate. The vertical lines pull the eye upward, which makes the Alicante read taller than its actual height — a useful trick in spaces where you want presence without overwhelming the proportions. Every Alicante is hand-finished in the same automotive-grade composite fiberglass as the rest of the Jay Scotts collection. The fluted surface is technically demanding to finish — every rib has to read evenly along the entire length, with no flat spots or paint pooling between the channels — so each piece is inspected for the continuous, even sheen that makes the texture work. It endures from −20 °C to +50 °C without cracking or fading, and remains light enough to be repositioned by hand as schemes evolve.
